Since June of 2012, Circuit Media has maintained a Minority/Women-Owned Business Enterprise (M/WBE) certification from the City and County of Denver. We are also certified as a Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB) and an Economically Disadvantaged Women-Owned Small Business (EDWOSB). With these certifications, Circuit Media aids the government and other organizations in supporting women-owned businesses in our community.
What is M/WBE and who uses it?
The Denver Office of Economic Development (OED) grants specialized certifications to help small businesses gain access to state and local work opportunities. In addition to the certification, the OED also offers M/WBE training, business outreach, networking, and goal setting. OED grants the M/WBE certification to for-profit businesses that are at least 51% women-owned. Circuit Media exceeds this standard, as we are owned solely by our CEO and founder, Rebecca Askew.
How M/WBE certifications work
Government agencies have a minority and disadvantaged business participation goal they must meet during the contracting process. Circuit Media’s various certifications, along with our range of high-quality professional services, help them reach that goal. Often, government agencies must “set-aside” projects that must be completed either wholly or in part by an M/WBE company. These “set-aside” projects create a fair playing field for all companies who might submit bids for the work.
What does the M/WBE certification mean to Circuit Media?
Circuit Media highlights our M/WBE and Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) certifications when submitting proposals to help differentiate our company, as well as support our unique ability to assist the government in solving complex issues.
CEO and founder Rebecca is also involved in the Women Impacting Public Policy (WIPP) advocacy group, which helps alleviate policy and regulatory issues affecting women-owned businesses. Our team regularly serves federal agencies and private companies through these certifications, and we proudly advocate for the support of women-owned small businesses across the nation.
